The Rise of Lavish Breakfasts

By the 19th century, affluent Americans sought to replicate the opulence of a full English breakfast, complete with bacon, eggs, and more. In Connecticut, this trend mirrored the growing wealth and social aspirations of the time. Health reformers began to push back against this trend, advocating for lighter, healthier options. This tug-of-war between indulgence and health reflected broader societal changes, highlighting how breakfast became a stage for social status and personal choices, ultimately leading to diverse morning traditions throughout the region.

"The atmosphere is cozy and warm, with a small dining area and attentive service. The breakfast menu is extensive, with a range of options for meat-lovers and vegetarians alike. The food quality was consistently high, with bold flavors and creative presentation. The only drawback was the small parking lot, which could be stressful at times. Overall, REDS is a great choice for breakfast dates or family gatherings."

"Cute. Charmingly cozy. Friendly service/good food, We always feel very taken care of here, a solid breakfast/brunch choice. Having homemade jams and real maple syrup options are a nice touch. **Highly recommend car pooling here with your friends as parking can be tight/limited. The street is too busy and not safe for (or permitting of) overflow traffic."
