"Great place for a quick bite to eat at low cost possible. These dishes are huge and you get what's expected. Nevermind the size and portions but also the friendliness of the waitresses and helpful recommendations I am very happy with the way the food came out I asked for onions in my potatoes and I got grilled onions not hard just thrown in onions but grilled warm onions. When we asked for soft veggie in our scrambled eggs we got exactly what we asked for. This place is great"

The Origins of Breakfast Rituals

Breakfast has come a long way from its early days as merely a way to break the overnight fast. In colonial Connecticut, settlers often started their day with simple foods like porridge and cider, reflecting the agricultural lifestyle of the time. This custom emphasized the importance of sustenance before a long day of farm work. As communities grew and changed, so did breakfast, merging European traditions with local ingredients. By the 18th century, the meal began shifting to include richer options that hinted at a growing comfort and abundance, setting the stage for the breakfasts we enjoy today.

The Rise of Breakfast Trends

In the late 19th century, breakfast in affluent American households began to mirror the lavish full English breakfasts enjoyed by the British elite. This shift saw the introduction of items like sausage, eggs, and baked beans on the morning table. Connecticut families, too, aspired to these opulent spreads, as the meal became less about sustenance and more about social status. However, this trend didn’t last long; health reformers soon advocated for lighter breakfasts, favoring fruits and whole grains, which reflected changing attitudes toward health and nutrition in the early 20th century.
