"First time here for breakfast I was amazed at the variety of items they have I was also happy to realize they had sausage gravy and biscuits. My favorite. They also have some of the best grits I’ve had in the Ct area. I’m originally from the south and I know how grits and sausage gravy biscuits should taste. You will not be disappointed. The quality and quantity will surely make your stomach and your wallet happy. My sister and I ordered a couple different items each. We just had to sample a few things on our first visit. Everything we ordered was really good. This is my new favorite breakfast place. Next I’ll have to try the lunch menu."

"I visited this establishment on a Friday morning. It was pretty busy, but my party did not have a long wait. We were a party of 3 with 3 parties in front of us. We waited about 15-20min. Order: berry pancakes, loaded grits (one order with turkey bacon), pumpkin cheesecake pancakes, scrambled eggs with havarti cheese, and breakfast tacos. The grits were good. I've never had loaded grits. The pancakes were pretty good. The toppings make the entree. I just didn't like the mushy texture. It's kind of expected with pumpkin flavor, but it began to be a bit much after a few bites. The tacos didn't have any flavor. They had a mountain of steak pieces, so it's unfortunate that they weren't seasoned. I added sour cream from home and the green salsa (tomatillo sauce?). They were delicious after that."

"Food: Chicken and Waffles, Cinnamon French Toast, Crab Cakes Egg Benedict 🍳🥞 Comments: Everything was delicious. The crab cakes egg Benedict was amazing, perfectly poached egg and crab cakes had a lot of flavor and fresh crabs, one of the best I had and I’m from Maryland. The cinnamon French toast was also good and really big portion size. The chicken was good but the waffle was just bland. We also got a side of loaded waffle fries and they were crispy and full of flavor. Our server was very nice. Overall, this is a very good place to get brunch however it’s a bit overpriced but worth it since we had a lot of left overs."

"I love coming here for breakfast on the weekends. They have a great selection of benedicts, omelettes & wraps, serve fresh food and keep everything clean. The waffles could be better but not a big problem for me. The service is pretty quick but just try to make reservations if you have a group of more than 4 people."

Breakfast Through the Ages

Breakfast, which literally means 'breaking the fast,' has a rich history that stretches back centuries. In colonial America, breakfast was often a simple affair, featuring cornmeal porridge or leftover bread. By the 19th century, however, the meal began to evolve, influenced by the rise of the middle class and changing values around health and nutrition. Wealthy families started to embrace more elaborate spreads, modeling their breakfasts after the hearty English style, which included items like bacon, eggs, and even baked beans. This transformation highlights how cultural aspirations shaped our morning routines, turning breakfast into a staple of social life.
